Personal Opinion

The legend! Universal Geneve was launched in 1894 with the first Compax being launched in 1935, and has earned mythical status among many collectors. A firm favourite among the watch community and finding good ones is getting harder and harder. This 1990 Compax comes with original box and papers and is an absolute stunner. Some very light scratches on the case defy the fact it’s 30 plus years old! In fantastic used condition. Coming in at just over 36mm it really has that vintage chronograph vibe. This was bought via auction from a well known UG collector who had removed the Tachymetre bezel in order to improve the vintage look as many UGs have a smooth bezel. I tend to agree with him. Although the deployment strap and clasp are original I don’t like it and I think could be improved with a different coloured leather or suede strap. Either way this is a classic and getting rarer by the day.
