Personal Opinion
A true mil spec icon!
The Gallet / Marathon joint venture “ Adanac “ were issued in 3 batches 1986, 1988 and 1990. This is from the 1st batch and a very early iteration.
And this one isn’t your standard Adanac / Marathon Navigator. This 1986 Gallet signed sterile dial version is rare, I have only seen a couple. After much research on forums and speaking with collectors Gallet / Adanac would occasionally use a sterile dial version, whether it had been used due to lack of branded dials or swapped when being repaired for duty this is a rare iteration, and one of the joys of collecting military watches with all of the little anomaly’s that go with them.
The usual military watch rules apply here:
- Stainless Steel Case
- Matte Black Dial
- Fixed Spring bars
An added bonus of the beautifully patina’d hands on this one, a common theme with lots of vintage Adanac’s and Marathon’s. The glossy bezel doesn’t move and the friction fit version of the crown I don’t like as much as a screw down BUT I love this watch.
Getting filed under “ Watches I don’t care that don’t sell “ as I will have it!
Grab yourself a rare mil spec beauty you won’t regret it.
