Personal Opinion
The quintessential cult Skin diver!
The Lanco Barracuda is a very rare skin diver from the 1960’s, which has garnered a big following with dive watch collectors and aficionados.
It’s easy to see why, with the amazing design features on this watch. The Bakelite bezel and gilt dial are more associated with vintage Blancpain Fifty Fathoms than any other.
It’s maybe a well kept secret or a IYKYK type of watch but just another example of being able to purchase an amazing vintage diver at a very affordable price.
There have been a number of different dial options on the Lanco Barracuda but this MK 1 dial with the Barracuda on the gilt dial and gorgeous Bakelite bezel is the most sought after. Add in the matching extra thick stick hands in a creamy custard patina and you have a winner. A slight scratch on the plexiglass between 12 and1 doesn’t detract from this fantastic all original example.
Quite simply one of the most handsome vintage skin divers on the market, and a personal favourite here at Patina Nationale.
This comes on a brown suede strap but would look equally good on a battered vintage nato.
This Barracuda has some bite. Enjoy.
