Personal Opinion

Perfect Patina!

Some vintage dive watches need little or no introduction and this is one of them!

The Tudor Submariner is one of the quintessential vintage dive watches, iconic good looks, durability and a cool factor that sometimes even its Rolex counterparts can’t match.

The Tudor Submariner launched in 1954 and positioned itself quickly as an instrument for dive professionals, with advances in terms of performance quickly improving such as the initial 100 metres depth rating changing to 200 metres in 1958.

Fast forward to 1984 and the watch we have here, the 76100 was launched replacing the 94110 reference. This transitional reference was only produced for a very short time scale with both lollipop hands and the Mercedes version we have on this example, which tended to happen in the first year of issue.

The Tudor Submariner also has an amazing military history too, with units from France (Marine Nationale) , US (Navy Seals and UDT teams), South Africa and Argentina to name but a few all using these amazing “ Mil Subs “

This reference was produced in both blue and black matte dials and with a date function, and the instantly recognisable Triangular hour markers at 6,9 and 12. Add in the Rolex crown, Caseback and you have a winner.

This particular version has a gorgeous creamy even colour dial with perfect patina, I’m a little biased but I haven’t seen many better on this particular reference.

This lovely original example comes in its original box with translation papers stamped from the well known London Jewellers at the time, Zales.

I have a special connection to this watch as it’s one of my favourite Tudor references and whoever buys this will not be disappointed, it’s truly a gorgeous example in fantastic condition. Running beautifully too.

It comes on a Frogman Strap, and also with a vintage Phoenix nato.

The perfect looking vintage dive watch.
