Personal Opinion
Aquastar Alert!
There is no doubt that vintage dive watches are a favourite with collectors and buyers worldwide. In an era where divers truly relied upon their watches.
A quick rifle through the back catalog of Aquastar watches and other iconic names get thrown up, Benthos 500, Aquastar 63, Regate, Seatime and Airtime. It’s a very special brand with a special history!
This 1970’s Aquastar Seatime is a case in point. A reference 1000, it features a 39mm stainless steel cushion case, a matte black luminous dial which has Tropicalised blue! Inner rotating bezel, similar to that of the Aquastar 63, signed Aquastar crown and screw back case. Original Tritium indices and handset makes this an all original vintage diver beauty.
Add in the iconic divers and free divers that wore and continue to wear this brand. The navy divers and explorers. The fact that Aquastar provided watches and depth gauges for Jacques Cousteau and his team. And my personal favourite, the legendary free diver Jacques Mayol who used a Chronograph Aquastar to time his incredible free dives to insane depths on just one breath.
It’s a very special watch from a very special brand…..not many in this condition so don’t hold your breath too long on this one…..
