Super KonTiki time!
Sometimes when iconic brands re – issue iconic dive watches I can be a bit cynical as they never tend to live up to the original with maybe a few exceptions.
This is definitely one of them!
The iconic KonTiki originates from the raft used by Thor Heyerdahl and his crew of five scientists. They sailed from Peru to Polynesia whilst wearing water resistant timepieces from Eterna. They named their raft KonTiki as the story goes.
This re – release is of the iconic model from 1973, which was issued to members of the IDF (Israeli Defence Force)
This 2014 version is virtually NOS (New Old Stock) and is the fullest of full sets with all the paperwork , hang tags and the original mesh Milanese bracelet.
The 44mm stainless steel tonneau case wears much smaller, 200m water resistant, manual wind and sapphire crystal glass. This is a huge amount of watch for the money. It comes on a rubber strap but would also look fantastic on a nato with its history.
