Personal Opinion

Awesome Auricoste!

We are all guilty of occasionally quoting how rare watches are, especially when selling but today isn’t that day.

This IS a very rare Auricoste Chronograph watch made and issued in very small numbers for the French Army Commando unit the 13e RDP. These watches were used by the “ Commandos de recherche dans la profondeur “ which translates to “ Deep Cover Commando’s” including the 13e RDP, an airborne special forces regiment of the French Army.

This alone would confirm the rarity of the watch but the fact only one or two batches totalling 250 pieces were ever made in one year puts this watch at a different level. They were distributed to the special forces in the very early 80’s and typically each unit had 2 of these watches issued, one for the unit commander and the other for the radio operator.

Add in that Auricoste was the chosen watchmaker of the French Army and this issued chronograph is individually numbered, and is all original. Including the beautiful tropicalised grey matte dial with black sub dials and red Chronograph hand, and I’m not sure you will find a better or rarer Military Chronograph.

This specific watch also comes with an original 13e RDP patch too.

Working beautifully, it doesn’t get much cooler.
