Iconic French Diver Alert!

A vintage diver that ticks all the boxes. What a looker!

The French brand Dodane will be known to some, an iconic brand with a rich and varied history including significant military provenance. Known for its amazing 1000m cases and water resistances. The legendary Triton Spirotechnique and Auricoste Spirotechnique were made by Dodane. Add in the mythical CWC Hong Kong 1984 and the Marine Nationale history, you then begin to understand just how rare and sought after these watches are.

Dodane cases were also used by other great French Brands like Camif, Airain, HGP, Arain, Astree and Chronosport etc to name but a few.

Easy to recognise by the large steel case, maxi dial, domed plexiglass , crown at 4pm and the 1000m writing on the dial. On the slightly rarer versions you will get a commando diver just above 6 ‘ O Clock and the 1000m writing will be in red. Maybe a nod to the vintage Bianchi’s and Rolex Sub 1680’s that were around at a similar time.

This actual Chronosport version has a gorgeous creamy warm patina on the dial and is just perfect. With there domed plexiglass they are incredibly difficult to photograph but in the flesh it looks absolutely stunning. In quite simply incredible condition considering it is over 40 years old. This version also has a wonderful patina’d acrylic bezel.

Running beautifully, but let’s be honest your not buying it for it’s Quartz movement, your buying it for its looks, rarity and heritage. If rumours are true the Airain version of this exact watch by Dodane was the back up for the Marine Nationale.

So…..if it’s good enough for them it’s good enough for you! (And me!)
